Mrs. Vernelle Trim FitzPatrick Sworn In as the New U.S. Ambassador to Gabon

Mrs. Vernelle Trim FitzPatrick has been sworn in as the new U.S. Ambassador to Gabon; a demonstration of the United States’ dedication to fostering enduring diplomatic ties with Gabon as it moves toward democracy.  The U.S. Senate confirmed her nomination on November 29, 2023.

Mrs. Vernelle Trim FitzPatrick, the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador, brings with her a wealth of experience in both Africa and Washington, and a strong dedication to fortifying the bonds between the United States and Gabon. Through this confirmation, the United States is reaffirming its unwavering commitment to nurturing and strengthening diplomatic relations with the government and people of Gabon.

In recent years the U.S. Embassy in Libreville has been overseen by Charge d’Affaires while the appointment process for a new Ambassador was underway. Ambassador FitzPatrick arrived January 16th.
