The U.S. Embassy, with support from Africa Regional Services in Paris, conducted a three-part journalism training series on covering elections. Paris-based U.S. journalist Eduardo Cue engaged with Gabonese journalists from Libreville and Port-Gentil through a videoconference. The workshops covered a wide range of topics related to best journalism practices, including electoral law, the electorate, candidates and their campaigns, as well as effective interview techniques and strategies for detecting and identifying fake news. The workshop consisted of three sessions and was designed as part of a capacity-building program aimed at enhancing the quality and objectivity of election coverage by local journalists.
